When in Paris...

It is not a successful trip to Paris without gaining a pound or two, right? Patrick and I ate more macarons, salted chocolate caramels and crepes than two people should ever be allowed to consume over a 5 day period. When in Rome applies to Paris too!

One of our favorite stops, in St. Germain, was GĂ©rard Mulot. Macarons, so light, airy and just sweet enough, perfectly melted in our mouths. The same for their salted caramels. Luckily we are still enjoying those back home in Brooklyn, chocolate keeps better than pastries.

One of the nights we were there, we splurged and spoiled ourselves in a decadent dinner at Joel Robuchon. Above is a photo of the insane dessert we had, the photos do not do it justice, but I hope you can see the gold dust that was scattered all over the plate and spoon. It was amazing and a great little note to end on.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and hopefully a long weekend. I will be back to posting every day next week.

Couture Choiseul

One of my favorite shops in all of Paris was called Couture Choiseul. Sadly, I can't seem to find it's website on the internet, but if you are interested in checking it out next time you are in Paris, it is right across the street from UltraMod (here is the location).

Couture Choiseul had an amazing selection of buttons, tassels, ribbons, trim, you name it, both old and new. A definite dream store for a designer, craft maker and admirer of beautiful things. I wasn't able to get any photos of the inside or products, I was already scarred from getting yelled at one too many times by this point. But I did try to capture the feeling and the beauties inside the store through it's display windows. Why is Paris soooo good?

Note: Thankfully a reader corrected me on the actual name of the store, it is Couture Choiseul and not Mercerie as shown in their window. Thank you Alice from Paris!

Holiday Shop-Seeing in Paris

Hello! I am back from London and Paris and will be sharing some photos with you over the next few days. I won't bore you with too many touristy photos but will try and share some that you may like. London was great, my husband had an art exhibition there, but I have to admit Paris was just fabulous, absolutely fabulous.

Here are some photos of our visit to the Galeries Lafayette. We spent an entire afternoon there. I could've spent all day in their amazing food market let alone looking at all of the amazing clothes! It is definitely the most beautiful department store I have ever been in architecturally. Despite braving a couple of cold days, we lucked out and caught their holiday displays which were beautifully over the top. It was hard to capture the overall beauty of the displays as most of the elements in them were actually in motion, but here is my attempt. Oh Paris, how I miss you already. More to come...

Times of Paris

In addition to all of the amazing tips readers sent my way, this website, Times of Paris was really helpful in helping me plan some of my destination spots.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Au Revoir!!!

Kate Headley

I absolutely love this top photo by Kate Headley. And how great do the orange/tawny colored shoes look with the purple bridesmaid's dresses? I love the color combination!

Rag & Bone Bindery

These handmade albums and books by Rag & Bone Bindery are absolutely gorgeous. Their use of rich colors, fabrics and lovely patterns make these items the perfect keepsake for your wedding or gift giving during this upcoming holiday season. The great thing about these designs are the multiple cover and binding options that you can choose from to customize your item to your wedding colors or your particular taste.

Salt & Pepper for your Cake

Inspired by this top photo, I did an etsy search for vintage salt and pepper shakers which I think would be the perfect cake toppers, and here are a few of my favorites...
